1 Cottesloe Beach
GPS Coordinates: -31.9947, 115.7514
Golden sand, crystal-clear water, and those iconic Norfolk pines – Cottesloe Beach is picture-perfect at any time of day. We came for the sunsets and stayed for the vibe. There’s always something going on, but it never felt too crowded. If you’re into drone shots – this is the place.

2 The Pinnacles Desert (Day Trip)
GPS Coordinates: -30.6068, 115.1593
This spot made us feel like we landed on another planet. Strange limestone formations rising from the sand – it’s surreal and stunning, especially in the late afternoon light. There’s a one-way loop road that lets you drive right through the desert, with plenty of spots to hop out and take photos. And yes, you’ll want to stop a lot. Just a heads-up: drones are not allowed in the park. The facilities are super well maintained – clean public toilets and lots of parking right at the visitor area. Even with kids, it was an easy and relaxed experience.

3 Omeo Wreck Snorkeling Spot, Coogee Beach
GPS Coordinates: -32.1139, 115.7538
This underwater shipwreck is so close to the shore you can literally snorkel from the beach. The water was super clear during our visit, and even from above you get amazing shots with a drone. Just keep in mind that tides make a difference – at low tide, parts of the wreck are more visible, while at high tide it’s better for snorkeling.
There’s a large parking area right next to the beach, but no shady spots, so be prepared if you’re leaving your car in the sun. All in all, it’s a great place for a short stop or a longer swim session – and it felt like a real hidden gem.

4 Lancelin Sand Dunes
GPS Coordinates: -31.0167, 115.3302
We weren’t prepared for how beautiful Lancelin would be – endless white dunes, perfect for shooting both dramatic wide angles and close-up textures. We really enjoyed our time here, but just know it gets seriously hot, especially around midday. The good news: you can drive your car right up to the dunes, which makes it super convenient with kids or gear. We rented our Sandboard from a shop in town for just 10€, which was cheaper than the rental spots directly at the dunes. Definitely worth checking prices before. And yes, there are quite a few flies, but it was still bearable during our visit.

5 Scarborough Beach Promenade
GPS Coordinates: -31.8943, 115.7582
Mornings here were calm and peaceful – the beach almost empty. But by evening, Scarborough turns lively with music, skaters, and food spots along the promenade. We loved taking photos during golden hour and walking barefoot along the water’s edge.

6 Elizabeth Quay & Pedestrian Bridge
GPS Coordinates: -31.9570, 115.8542
For a sleek city shot, this is the place. The pedestrian bridge, modern sculptures, and skyline reflections in the water give it that futuristic touch. Come at blue hour for the perfect combo of city lights and moody sky.

7 Rainbow Sea Containers, Fremantle
GPS Coordinates: -32.0501, 115.7366
Bright, bold, and fun – this massive rainbow sculpture made from sea containers is the kind of spot that adds a pop of color to your grid. It’s a quick stop, ideal for snapping a few shots and moving on – there’s not much else around, but it definitely stands out visually. Parking directly in front can be a challenge, but if you’re okay with walking a few hundred meters, there are plenty of side streets nearby with better options.

8 Yanchep Lagoon
GPS Coordinates: -31.5370, 115.6318
This lagoon feels like a hidden coastal pool – calm, clear, and perfect for snorkeling or just floating around. We came here first thing in the morning, and it was actually our very first touchpoint with Western Australia’s famous white beaches – and wow, what an introduction. The surrounding area is just beautiful: low-key, peaceful, and with scenic coastal paths and a few dreamy playgrounds nearby. It felt a bit like a local secret – less crowded, relaxed, and totally worth the early start.

9 Kings Park Lookout (Fraser Avenue)
GPS Coordinates: -31.9616, 115.8440
It’s one of Perth’s most well-known viewpoints – and for good reason. You get sweeping views of the city skyline and Swan River, framed by native bushland. We loved the contrast between nature and city, and the evening light was just magical. The park is very large and offers much more than just the lookout. We only managed to visit on our departure day, which in hindsight wasn’t ideal. It’s the kind of place that really deserves a second visit – with plenty of walking paths, garden areas, and lookout points to explore.

10 Penguin Island (Day Trip)
GPS Coordinates: -32.3046, 115.6965
This spot felt like a real hidden gem – often overshadowed by Rottnest Island, but honestly? We didn’t regret our choice for a second. Yes, there were a few other tourists around, but nothing compared to the crowds you’d expect elsewhere.
Our absolute tip: go by kayak. We paddled over from the mainland, even with the kids, and it was just perfect. The water is shallow and calm most of the way, and the island itself is small, wild, and full of natural charm. It’s the kind of place that feels like a little escape – simple, raw, and surprisingly quiet.

And many more…
Perth surprised us in the best possible way. It’s not just about one skyline or one beach – it’s the mix of urban charm, quiet coastal corners, and wild landscapes that makes this city so photogenic. From golden sand dunes to turquoise lagoons and vibrant street art, every spot on this list brought something different to our camera roll.
And the best part? It all felt a little more relaxed, a little less crowded – even at the famous places. For us, Perth was a true highlight of our Western Australia trip – full of color, light, and those small travel moments you just don’t forget.
