Exploring the secluded Tura Headland Rockpool comes highly recommended. To reach this hidden gem, you can park your car at Headland Drive and embark on a scenic walk. The roundtrip distance is approximately 1.7 kilometers, and the trail is well-marked and not challenging. It’s a journey that even families with children can easily enjoy.
Wild Swimming at Nethercote Falls
If you’re up for a real adventure, consider visiting Nethercote Falls from Merimbula by car. Here’s how to get there:
Start your journey in Merimbula and head south on Sapphire Coast Drive. In Pambula, turn right onto Toallo Street (Princes Highway) and follow the signs towards Eden. Keep an eye out for the sign indicating “Nethercote Falls.” Keep in mind that the walk down to Nethercote Falls and back out is very steep. While the waterfall and the surrounding area are beautiful and serene, it’s important to note that the trail can be challenging. Additionally, if your car has low clearance, be cautious as the road is suitable for 2WD vehicles until the very end, where there’s an annoying speed hump that can cause low cars to scrape.
In a nutshell, Nethercote Falls is a cool spot, but we wouldn’t recommend dedicating an entire day to it. There are more picturesque experiences in the region, and if you’re traveling with children, it’s worth considering the difficulty of the walk and the suitability of your vehicle for the road.

Now, for something truly enchanting – the Merimbula Boardwalk. This charming path spans just under 2 kilometers and offers a breathtaking experience. Along the way, you’ll encounter mangroves, spot young pufferfish, and with a little patience, even catch sight of rare bird species. Make sure not to leave your camera behind; you’ll want to capture these moments.
We suggest setting aside a leisurely 2 hours for this delightful walk. The journey kicks off not far from the city center and concludes at a quaint cafe and boat rental spot. It’s a perfect way to immerse yourself in Merimbula’s natural beauty.

Whale watching along the Sapphire Coast is a renowned experience, and Merimbula is no exception.
