10 Three Sisters (Blue Mountains)
1 Sydney Opera House
GPS Coordinates: -33.8568, 151.2153
No Sydney photo collection is complete without the Opera House. It’s one of the most recognizable buildings in the world, and the best shots aren’t always from right up close. One of the best angles is from Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair, where you get a panoramic view with the Harbour Bridge in the background. If you want something unique, take a ferry to Kirribilli or Lavender Bay for a different perspective. Sunrise offers the softest light, while sunset gives you warm tones with the city lighting up behind it.
Tip: Skip the usual Circular Quay shot and try capturing the Opera House from the Harbour Bridge’s pedestrian walkway. The higher angle adds more depth to your photo.

2 Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair
GPS Coordinates: -33.8591, 151.2220
For a postcard-perfect view of Sydney, this spot is a must. From here, you can capture both the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in one frame, making it one of the best photo locations in the city. It’s especially beautiful at sunset when the sky turns pink and orange, creating a dreamy backdrop. If you want a wider perspective, explore the nearby waterfront paths for unique angles that most people miss.
Tip: If you want a less crowded alternative, walk a little further along the shoreline to find quieter viewpoints with equally stunning angles.

3 Bondi Beach & Iceberg Pools
GPS Coordinates: -33.8934, 151.2767
The contrast between the turquoise water, crashing waves, and white pool edges makes Bondi Icebergs one of the most photogenic places in Sydney. If you want the best lighting, go at sunrise when the colors are soft, and the crowds are minimal. The Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk offers a stunning overhead view of the pool, but there’s also a little balcony that gives you an even better shot. Instead of going through the main entrance, take the small pathway just past it – you’ll find a tucked-away viewing platform with the perfect angle to capture the entire pool and coastline.
Tip: This hidden spot is usually much quieter than the main entrance area, so take your time to frame the perfect shot without people in the background.

4 The Grounds of Alexandria
GPS Coordinates: -33.9090, 151.2009
A café might not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Instagram worthy spots in Sydney, but The Grounds of Alexandria is truly something else. From charming cobblestone pathways and fairy lights to ever-changing seasonal pop-ups, every corner here is made for photos. The food is just as impressive – beautifully plated dishes that look almost too good to eat.
We were lucky to have this spot within walking distance of our accommodation, making it an easy stop during our trip. If you’re planning to visit, try to go on a weekday morning. It gets incredibly busy on weekends, and an early visit means better lighting and fewer people in the background of your shots.

5 McDougall Street Lavender Blooms
GPS Coordinates: -33.8437, 151.2153
If you’re in Sydney in November, you can’t miss McDougall Street in Kirribilli when the Jacaranda trees are in full bloom. The entire street transforms into a purple tunnel of flowers, creating one of the most breathtaking seasonal sights in the city. The contrast of the lilac blossoms against the historic homes makes it a favorite for photographers.
Tip: Visit early in the morning before the crowds arrive, as this spot gets incredibly popular. A slightly overcast day can actually work in your favor, making the purple tones pop even more in photos.

6 Lavender Bay & Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden
GPS Coordinates: -33.8468, 151.2101
Lavender Bay is one of those underrated gems that offers a mix of nature, city views, and peaceful waterfront vibes. Nestled just a short walk from Milsons Point, this spot provides a stunning framed view of the Harbour Bridge, often without the tourist crowds. The foreshore walk along the bay is lined with lush greenery, charming boats, and hidden benches perfect for soaking in the view.
Tip: Head to Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden, tucked away in Lavender Bay, for a unique angle of the Harbour Bridge through the trees. Sunset is the best time for soft golden light, and if you’re lucky, you’ll spot some local lorikeets adding a pop of color to your shots.

7 Queen Victoria Building (QVB)
GPS Coordinates: -33.8728, 151.2066
The Queen Victoria Building (QVB) isn’t just a shopping mall – it’s one of the most beautiful heritage buildings in Sydney. From the outside, its grand sandstone architecture and domes make it stand out in the city skyline. But the real magic is inside, where you’ll find stunning stained-glass windows, intricate tile work, and a grand spiral staircase that looks like something out of a European palace. One of the best spots for a photo is from the upper floors, looking down onto the massive Christmas tree if you’re visiting during the holidays. Another great shot is on the iconic staircase, which offers the perfect blend of symmetry and old-world charm.
Getting here by public transport is easy, as it’s located right in the city center. But if you’re thinking of driving, think twice – parking in the area can be tricky and expensive. If you do bring a car, check for parking garages nearby before you go, as street parking is almost impossible to find.

8 Tumbalong Park
GPS Coordinates: -33.8757, 151.2016
Tumbalong Park isn’t just a spot for photos – it’s one of those places where you actually want to hang out for a while. Located in Darling Harbour, this open green space is surrounded by fountains, modern city architecture, and a lively atmosphere that makes it feel like the heart of the area. During the day, you’ll find people relaxing on the grass, kids running through the water play areas, and street performers bringing the place to life. In the evenings, the vibe shifts, with lights reflecting off the nearby skyscrapers, and often, there’s live music or events happening. It’s one of those places where you can capture not just a beautiful scene, but also the energy of Sydney itself.
For photos, the best shots are near the fountains, where the water creates cool reflections and movement in your frame. But don’t just focus on still images – Tumbalong Park is a great place for capturing videos, time-lapses, or just soaking in the moment.

9 Coogee to Bondi Coastal Walk
GPS Coordinates (Coogee Beach): -33.9207, 151.2585
GPS Coordinates (Bondi Beach): -33.8915, 151.2767
The Coogee to Bondi Coastal Walk isn’t just one of the most scenic walks in Sydney – it’s one of the most breathtaking coastal trails in the world. Stretching six kilometers along the rugged coastline of New South Wales, this walk takes you past golden beaches, dramatic cliffs, ocean pools, and hidden coves, with countless spots to stop for a photo or just take in the view.
Each section of the walk has its own vibe. Coogee Beach has a relaxed feel, perfect for an early morning coffee before you start. As you make your way toward Clovelly and Bronte, you’ll pass Gordons Bay, a small, tucked-away cove with crystal-clear water that looks straight out of a tropical postcard. Bronte Baths and Tamarama Beach offer stunning viewpoints, and as you get closer to Bondi Beach, the energy shifts. Bondi is buzzing with surfers, beachgoers, and an electric atmosphere that makes it one of the liveliest places in Sydney.

10 The Three Sisters, Blue Mountains
GPS Coordinates: -33.7314, 150.3125
Okay, we know this one isn’t technically in Sydney – but if you’re already here, the Blue Mountains are too close (and too stunning) to skip. Just a 1.5-hour drive from the city, the Three Sisters rock formation in Echo Point, Katoomba is one of the most iconic and photographed natural landmarks in Australia.
The towering sandstone peaks set against the backdrop of the vast Jamison Valley are absolutely breathtaking. What makes it even better is how accessible it is – you can park nearby and be at the main lookout in just a few minutes. It’s an easy day trip that delivers dramatic scenery and fresh mountain air, plus there are plenty of walking trails if you want to go deeper into the bushland.

And many more…
Sydney is one of those cities where it feels like there’s something to see around every corner – from world-famous landmarks to quiet, hidden corners that completely surprise you. It’s vibrant, laid-back, full of color and light, and incredibly photogenic in every sense. For us, it’s honestly one of the most beautiful cities we’ve ever visited – and it was an absolute highlight of our New South Wales trip.
